About Us
Meet the Waldrip’s
This is us, Jaron & Karlie. Our story began in San Marcos, Texas where we attended Texas State University.
Four years later, we got married in front of God, our family, and friends in Lampasas, Texas at Hidden River Ranch, a beautiful venue that is the epitome of the Texas Hill Country. This place had it all, the panoramic Hill Country views, the rustic yet elegant architecture, majestic and mature trees, and cattle & wildlife. Truly a Hill Country ranch most people only dream about.
From that day forward, Central Texas, specifically the Texas Hill Country, held a special place in our hearts, from watching concerts at Gruene Hall, to trying different wineries in New Braunfels, to floating the river in San Marcos and in Glen Rose, Our love story and our love for the Hill Country continued to grow as we moved all across the state of Texas for the next several years.
Fast forward to today, and we are back to where it all began. Just like those Hill Country trees, we are ready to put down roots. Deep roots. The type of roots that allow certain trees like, Pecan, Mesquite, Cedar, Oak, and more, to thrive in the Texas Hill Country.
Now here is the cool thing - most all of those trees have somehow, over thousands of years, adapted to thrive in less than ideal ground conditions like shallow, rocky soil, fast-draining yet drought-prone topography, and intense heat. Despite all of these unfavorable conditions, these Texas native trees continue to plant deep root systems through very rocky and low-nutrient soil to help them survive Texas summer weather, storms, years of drought, and even floods if they come.
I believe the strength, resilience, endurance, and adaptability of these Texas Hill Country trees have a lot to teach us about marriage in todays world.
Enter Slab + Script. My purpose is to handcraft a one-of-a-kind heirloom-quality piece of custom art that newlyweds can:
1) Use as a display piece for their wedding
2) Take home and hang up in their home as a unique piece of art
3) Capture their special day with a piece that is designed to last a lifetime
4) Reflect upon to remember the traits that these hardwoods have adapted to endure for centuries, despite tough conditions; much like marriage can be in todays world.
That is us, that is what we do. We look forward to the opportunity to connect soon.
